Derek Jones

Managing Director
Research Society Fellow

Derek Jones is the founder and managing director of D&M Research, and maintains an active role in consulting on projects, developing proprietary techniques, mentoring and bridging the gap between research findings and client decision making.

Derek was formally educated as a Psychologist at University of New South Wales, and has the additional qualification of Qualified Professional Researcher from The Research Society.

He is a regular presenter of research findings to clients, as well as national and international conferences. He is often asked to comment on his social research in the press including newspapers and radio.

Derek is passionate about how we choose and the impact of both implicit and explicit drivers on categories, brands and organisations. He has won numerous awards over the years for conference presentations, commercial effectiveness, and excellence in business.

Derek is a seasoned educator for The Research Society and guest lecturer at University of New South Wales and Western Sydney University.

Evelyn Colless

Senior Analyst

Evelyn has worked with D&M since 1998 and is involved in research methodology and design, as well as overseeing all the online programming and analytic functions of D&M’s quantitative projects. She is still personally involved in the execution of most projects and enjoys managing accounts for some key clients.

Evelyn has trained graduate Research Assistants, and takes the opportunity to ensure best practice and critical thinking is at the base of all research.

Evelyn initially started studying Psychology at Macquarie University, but found herself more attracted to the statistics and research side of psychology, so decided on a double major. She has worked in research since graduating, and brings a wealth of experience across thousands of projects and hundreds of brands and products.

She enjoys solving tricky data issues and creating questionnaires that are easy for respondents yet also deliver great insights.

Evelyn is proficient in Excel, Surveycraft, Websurveycreator, Professional Quest and Q.

Evelyn enjoys reading, and has been in her local book club for 15 years. She enjoys the beach, travelling, cycling and snowboarding, but does all these at a relaxed and leisurely pace.

Tiffany Tham

Senior Research Consultant

Since joining the D&M family in 2009, Tiffany’s 10+ years of research experience has spanned many clients, industries and project types. Tiffany is professionally trained in the fields of Marketing and Economics, after completing these majors through a Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Arts double degree from ACU.

Over the years, Tiffany has garnered particular interest in the numbers involved with quantitative research, with particular expertise in brand health trackers and finding ways to extract additional insight in tracking research. Tiffany also enjoys projects involving online research communities, particularly in maximising ways to build engagement with respondents, and building visually appealing online platforms.

Tiffany has worked across some of Australia’s leading brands in the FMCG & finance sectors, including Red Bull, AMP and Cover-More, and is excited by reports which deliver a visual impact, striving to ensure they make insights and commercial implications easier to consume for her clients.

Ross Waraker

A hands-on marketer with an insatiable curiosity and passion for understanding human behaviour in the context of marketing decisions, Ross has over 15 years of experience in qualitative marketing research.

With a diverse consulting background across the financial services, construction and industrial sectors, and a wide variety of global and national retail brands, Ross has vast experience to draw upon to inform the optimal design, execution and outputs of each unique business research study.

Emre Aral

Information Designer

Emre joined D&M in 2017 with a strong background in graphic design. He has a range of creative, intellectual and technical skills and an understanding of the historical and cultural influences that continue to develop and inform the wide-reaching discipline of visual communication.

He is in charge of the visual flair in D&M’s reports and presentations, and knows how to make an impact while staying true to the numbers. He is particularly passionate about information design and data visualisation, and developing compelling visual stories for clients.

Angela Gampierakis

Finance Manager

“I enjoy working with the warm and friendly people at D&M. Coming from an accounts background, it’s refreshing to learn new things about market research and how crucial it is towards the success of businesses today!”

Angela has over 15 years of accounting experience, including working for a small food distribution company looking after the accounts and customer service.

Angela is responsible for the accounts at D&M including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, BAS and IAS preparation, and reconciling the accounts.
